Description

Our client, a distinguished law firm, is seeking a highly skilled patent prosecution associate or patent agent to become part of their expanding Intellectual Property Practice Group. Candidates can be based in either of two major city locations. Applicants must possess IP experience with drafting and patent prosecution, a background in computer science, electrical engineering, or a similar field (advanced degrees and/or work experience prior to law school/agency exam is strongly preferred), and USPTO membership. A strong understanding of software, controls, and controller systems is necessary, with electro-mechanical equipment experience being a bonus. Associates should have a minimum of 4 years of experience and must be licensed to practice law in the state of the chosen city location. Patent agents should have 5 or more years of experience. Responsibilities encompass all facets of global portfolio strategy and management, including procuring IP rights in the US and overseas. Ideal candidates will be driven, committed to professional development, eager to work with a national/international client platform, and demonstrate superior client service ability. Exceptional written and oral communication skills, excellent academic credentials, and strong organizational and analytical capabilities are required. Knowledge and experience with other forms of intellectual property protection are beneficial. This position also provides opportunities to expand into other areas of IP work for the right individuals.
